I am currently a Digital Content Producer with WCIA 3 News in Champaign, Illinois. My job includes gathering information and writing stories for web, as well as strategizing and creating content for social media. Our team ensures that each article is as accurate and up-to-date as possible, and is accompanied by a corresponding newscast clip. We also utilize analytics tools to gauge audience interest in each story and to organize our homepage accordingly. Using SocialFlow, we frequently schedule out posts and plan ahead for specials and campaigns. On occasion, I take photos or videos of special events and moments to share with our viewers.
Below, you can find some examples of my social media content. To see some of my favorite web articles, see the “Writing” tab above.
Past Social Media/Copywriting
In October 2021, I joined The ExtraOrdinary Women Project – Bloomington-Normal as a Digital Media Intern, among other things. As a then-new organization, I helped set the foundation for the tone and branding of their social media pages. Primarily using Canva, I created visually appealing images and clips to not only attract users, but give them important information. Within 6 months, I more than tripled their Facebook follower count.
I also helped conduct interviews with honorees and wrote up their stories for local publication.
Here are some examples of the things I created for them:
Meanwhile, I ran the Instagram page for Peoria Players Theatre (@peoria_players_theatre) throughout the duration of their season’s most large-scale musical, The Spongebob Musical. I proposed implementing the “Instagram Takeover” campaign and oversaw its execution. I also created some images for the cast and crew to use as digital promotion, including banners and IG images.
Click on any of the examples below for more info.
I was also part of the Social Media Subcommittee for A Moment of Magic – UIowa Chapter. Unfortunately, the experience was cut rather short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, I did get to help brainstorm positive captions for a couple posts and take photos for their socials — including this one!
Not only do I have experience working behind-the-scenes of social media, but I also have experience “influencing” and being in front of the smartphone screen.
My face was featured on the official Walt Disney World Today (@WDWToday) Twitter page back when I worked in Magic Kingdom!
Below that are a couple videos “takeovers” I have hosted. The first is from February 2022, where I took over @peoria_players_theatre’s Instagram story in honor of The Spongebob Musical‘s opening night. The second is from July 2017, when I took over Community Players Theatre’s Snapchat story to promote The Little Mermaid. You’ll notice that I had a little too much fun with these, so it’s quite chaotic…
Enjoy!
